Starlink Maritime Pricing by the Gigabyte

Starlink Maritime data works out at anywhere from $1.075 to $7 a gigabyte in this table, with monthly bills running from $250 up to $5,150 depending on the plan and the provider. The cheapest rate is Starlink's own Global Priority 2TB plan, $2,150 a month for 2TB. The dearest is Global Satellite's 10GB reseller plan, $300 a month for 10GB, which comes to $7 a gigabyte.

This table covers the monthly price, data allowance and cost per gigabyte for Starlink's own plans and for two resellers, each checked against a dated source. It does not cover coverage, hardware, installation, contract terms or real-world speeds, and where a top-up rate is quoted without a published base monthly price, that price is marked as not published rather than estimated.

Throttle after the priority data allowance runs out

Sources disagree on this point: one secondary source describes throttling to 1/0.5 Mbps generally, another (Starlink Insider) describes the 50GB tier losing ocean connectivity outright, with access limited to starlink.com, once the allowance is gone. Neither figure appears on Starlink's own plan page as fetched here — treat the 1/0.5 Mbps number as the best available secondary-source figure, not a primary-source confirmation.

How to read this table

Price per gigabyte here depends mostly on volume and on markup. Starlink's own Global Priority 2TB plan comes to $1.075 a gigabyte against $5 a gigabyte for its 50GB plan — bigger direct plans are consistently cheaper per gigabyte at this size.

For the 500GB, 1TB and 2TB tiers, Starlink direct and Satellite Phone Store currently charge the identical monthly price, so the size of the plan matters more than the choice of seller at that size. Global Satellite is the pricier reseller at 1TB: $1,400 a month, $2.50 a gigabyte, against $1,150 direct. For light or occasional use, Satellite Phone Store's 50GB plan at $275 a month, $5.50 a gigabyte, keeps the flat monthly bill low.

The main trap is the rate once a plan's allowance is used up. Global Priority top-up data is $2 a gigabyte. Ocean Mode — the ocean-coverage option for Roam Unlimited, and the way Personal Maritime bills ocean data — is also $2 a gigabyte until 26 September 2026, then $6 a gigabyte from 27 September 2026 onward; Personal Maritime, a newer $185-a-month base plan for smaller boats, already bills its ocean data at $6 a gigabyte from launch. Skip the top-up entirely on a Global Priority plan and the connection is reported to throttle to roughly 1 Mbps down / 0.5 Mbps up, though that figure comes from a reseller, not Starlink directly.

The Global Priority 500GB, 1TB and 2TB figures above were set to this ladder directly — Starlink's own plan page did not return content to the tools used here, and secondary sources disagreed with each other on those three tiers at the time of checking, the same problem noted on earlier snapshots of this page. Satellite plans change without notice, and a reseller can quote a different number on the phone. Treat it as the starting point for a quotation, and check the source link before you commit a vessel to a contract.
